Last day for a beloved volunteer

Thank you so much, Chigusa

Some volunteers stay for a long time. We love that. Some volunteers come back and help us out several times. We love that. When they have to leave we cook them a nice meal, just a little above the level of everyday meals.

Yesterday Chigusa was leaving after 5 weeks of helping us. In 2017 she stayed with us for eight weeks. She is an adorable person, words can’t tell – well maybe if I were Shakespeare or something. Anyway we cooked and enjoyed the meal and laughed and sang and said our blessings out loud.

Flowers from The Healing Garden beds for the salad

The Gaelic blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Pickled top onions from garlic
Onion and herb risotto
Nettle pesto

We also had a nice soup and some delicious buns to go with it all.
